Happy Anniversary to me, Happy Anniversary to Me, Happy Anniversary to me and this BLAWG.... Happy ONE YEAR OF POSTING ON A BLOG.

This blog was born one year ago today.

I was sitting at work (I am no longer at that job, and NOT because I blogged from work) and I decided that reading other people's blogs was, well, fun ... but I needed my own!

So, I signed up with Typepad and started writing and posting pictures and the whole thing grew.

I've written about my skin cancer, my cats, my many, many haircuts, my travels and my jobs.  I've celebrated my engagement and my experiences trying to plan a wedding, working full time, and buying a house.  Then, I sort of got a little o.v.e.r.w.h.e.l.m.e.d. and stop posting and so much and my stats dropped like the republicans in the House this past week.   

So, I summoned up the energy and got back into the swing of posting regularly.  I kept reading other blogs and saw that there are actual conferences like, BlogHer. And I realized this was not just a pastime, this could be huge. So, I started linking to other blogs more and spent WAY too many hours dreaming about how my blog might one day replace my day-job income and I could just blawg blawg blawg all the way home.

I'm still sitting at my day job, but loving this blogging this just the same.

So, please, raise a glass to one year anniversary of The Fabulous Miss S ...

A day in CT

I'm in Connecticut. Visiting family friends who are absolutely the best people on earth.
Whenever I am around them, I like myself, I'm happy and I grow.
Today we went to the mall. C had to get an outfit for a bat mitzvah tomorrow ... so we all schleped around the mall and spent way too much money.
I bought a sweater that was on sale for $15, at Delia's.
I'm 26 years old. I don't think Delia's is exactly designed for people my age. Whatever. It's different, simple, and I'm going to wear it tomorrow to NYC, with a funky hat (yeah! I bought a hat!!!) and red shoes. I bought a pair of red shoes. I rock.
On the way home I said, I bought these and I'm going to wear these to remind other people and myself that I am not rigid and predicitable, even though I am.

This dishwasher is VERY scary looking. On my first day here, I asked if we ran it at night, the response was something like, "um, yeah, we don't use that, it is very disgusting in there" and, well, it is.

My two favorite pens right now. The red one writes in blue ink. I was forced to use it to sign my house-buying documents at settlement. So I kept it. The green one I stole from a waitress at Clyde's. I washed it with two whole Purell towelettes, you know, to re-virginize it.

Marketing materials, gotta love 'em. I'm supposed to be convinced that I NEED a honeymoon over-the-water bungalow in Tahiti simply by staring at this mouse pad all day. I'm convinced!

moving really brings out the neurosis in me

In one month from today I will be living in my new home.

My own home, as in a home that I will OWN, not rent. 

I will be able to paint the walls florescent orange if I want and never have to paint them back.  I can put holes in the walls and a deck on the back. I can plant flowers, and do anything else that I want.  I will no longer have a bedroom and a den and a kitchen. I am going to have a WHOLE HOUSE. 

A WHOLE HOUSE DAMMIT!

I will have bedrooms that I can set up and they will just sit there and look pretty until we have guests to sleep in them.  I can decorate and redecorate. I can have a beachy themed bathroom and a formal dining room.

I can do whatever I want.

I can eat them, green eggs and hams, I swear I am, Sam I am.

oops, sorry, lapsed into verse there for a minute ...

Before that, however, I have to m.o.v.e.

Which involves packing. And cleaning. And stress. And yelling.

I am not looking forward to the actual moving part.  I have this weekend when I am away, so not much will get done then. Then the following weekend is a massive packing and getting-ready weekend, then there is Thanksgiving weekend and then ... that's sort of it. I will be living in the country for a few days while my parents are in a whole other Country ... then I'll be moving. 

There are so many logistics to figure out, where furniture will go, who will get it there, and, when.  I have moving companies to call ... postcards of address changes to send... but I don't know when to do it all. I want to start now, I feel like I should be packed and ready to go, but I don't know where to begin. 

I'm afraid of getting stressed and being told I MUST BUY a damn mouth guard, so I'm being all loose-lips about it and not worrying, but if I don't worry about it, who will? And if I don't worry and no one else does, will anything actually get done?

the noises deep within

Nobody tells you that recovery from a stomach flu takes a very long time, you will be starving and repulsed by food at the same time and have very, VERY, odd and often loud noises and grumbles deep inside your intestines. It is neither fun, nor comfortable. And, you don't actually lose that much weight.
